Who IS My Native Represents?

My experience in the luxury travel industry spans twenty years and includes roles in Retail, Concierge, DMC, Sales & Operations. I have a long-standing and in-depth understanding and knowledge of the industry, which is constantly evolving and adapting.

My Native Represents acts as an extension to my client’s Sales & Marketing team. My function typically involves the following responsibilities but can be tailored to suit each client’s needs & budget.

Initial report identifying strategy for business growth through the travel trade
Sales calls to agreed list of partners
Coordination of FAM trips

Nikoi Private Island

Nikoi is a private island resort in Indonesia’s Riau archipelago. It consists of eighteen one, two, and three-bedroom villas, many with private pools. The island is a unique place where simple yet inspiring architecture, good food, and personal service come together in a spectacular natural setting.

A brilliant choice for families, a priority on this island is to bring kids outdoors and into nature with daily activities including jetty jumping, coconut-tree climbing, jungle zip wires, and treasure hunts across the 37-acre island. At the same time, adults enjoy days spent on the beach, savouring fresh, Indonesian cuisine and evenings at the bar.

Cempedak Private Island

Sister island to Nikoi, Cempedak is an adult-only resort with twenty 1-bedroom villas – 9 Seaview and 11 Beach. Each villa, with over 150sqm of floor space, is a genuine home-from-home; downstairs is a lounge area with a guest bathroom, a bar, a large deck, outdoor shower, sun loungers and a private plunge pool. Upstairs, the bedrooms have vaulted ceilings, bamboo ceiling fans, king-sized beds and an ensuite bathroom. Each villa has its own butler, contactable through your in-villa iPad.

The sunset-facing Dodo bar, Boathouse and Restaurant are prime spots to socialise in the evening, whilst the Rock Spa on the eastern side of the island is the most tranquil of places to indulge in the best of Indonesian pampering.

ABOUT THE ISLANDS

Both islands are members of The Long Run and are pioneers in sustainable and community-focused tourism. If guests are interested, they can take a guided, sustainability walk around the island, going behind-the-scenes to understand how the resort is setting standards in waste management, energy efficiency, water filtration, mosquito control, staff training and community support. The Island Foundation, established by the owners of Nikoi & Cempedak, supports education across thirteen education centres throughout the Riau archipelago, championing the learning and development of young people.

Hello, I’m Julie!

Throughout my uni years, I immersed myself in languages and delved into the intricacies of cultures.

The travel bug well and truly caught, I found myself in the bustling streets of China, then living in Paris, and then Milan. I found I could find a sense of home anywhere – so long as I immersed myself in the culture of a place.

Student years over, I found myself in the corporate world of consulting. But something was missing. With no room for creativity, I felt like a fish out of water.

So I landed a job at an innovative small travel brand, before working at Abercrombie & Kent for a decade. It was here that I realised travel could be more than just a vacation; it could be a fulfilling career. The experience was eye-opening, showing me the immense potential in the travel industry.

A decade later, My Native was born out of a desire for more balance – curating journeys for families like mine enabling them to step out of their bubbles, embrace diverse cultures, share adventures and create lifelong memories.

My Native Represents assists properties (lodges, resorts, hotels) & destination management companies to connect with the appropriate travel partners in the UK market, thereby extending their reach. I am passionate about representing clients who genuinely care about positive impact tourism. And, to this end, both of our current clients are active members of The Long Run and are considered pioneers in their commitment to environmental sensitivity and community engagement, as well as delivering excellence in hospitality.
