If you're looking for somewhere to ski late in the season with guaranteed snow, head north to the stylish resort of Are in Sweden. Families will love the multi-bedroom suites at the Copperhill Mountain Lodge. Take your older children dog-sledding on Are's frozen lake. Yoga and spa treatments in abundance and the indoor pool is open to children during certain hours of the day. For beginner skiers, the nursery slopes are a shuttle-bus away. Otherwise, ski directly from the hotel. Flights are direct with Easyjet from London Gatwick and it's a 3 hour transfer to the resort.

Honestly : perhaps not the best option for skiers looking for a challenging set of slopes.

Ideal for: avoiding the crowds, a luxurious place to rest your head, guaranteed snow until the end of April, excellent choice of cuisine in Are and at the hotel (and a pleasing lack of cheese fondues)
